being up even when you’re down

  • easier said than done.
  • this too shall pass.
  • at least I have my health.
  • i am not alone.
  • there is an abundance of love in my life.
  • there’s basketball tonight.
  • i have chocolate hidden in my desk for just such a time as this.
  • it’s Friday.
  • that which does not kill me makes me stronger.
  • i am wearing cool shoes.
  • it’s a beautiful morning.
  • i have hair.
  • REVISED: i have a sweet man in my life to talk to and encourage me. (via Robert)
  • REVISED: i am alive (via Chard)
  • REVISED: i am not Sarah Palin. (via Chard)
  • REVISED: called “cute boy” by @bmonestiez (LOL!)

today's sunrise

it’s a struggle sometimes to maintain a positive attitude all the time. sometimes life makes that a true struggle. for me, the only way to circumvent the weight of tough times is to remind myself of what’s (and who’s) good and lovely and cause for gratitude in my life.

doing so doesn’t resolve the circumstantial challenges but it lessens their impact on my demeanor and attitude.

so the day will be ok. and life will go on. and I will be fine.

and I hope this tactic works for you when you’re having one of  “those” days.

peace out.

  1. I will be ur #1 supportor, cheerleader, lover….
Yes the negative gets us down once we acknowledge it an dwell on it…..

As soon as we pass that stage and look at the positive things in our lives (lovers, friends, good hair) we realize the good out weighs the bad.

Also know u always have me to talk to…..

    : )

    • so true baby…thank you for supporting, cheering, and loving me. and talking to me ’til my better attitude comes around! 🙂

  2. I agree with you, my friend. It’s not always easy to look on the brighter side and try to see everything that is good in life. I’m thankful that I still have hair, too. It’s a wonder since I stress so much, which is way unhealthy. For me music is my outlet. It’s that one thing that’s so special to me. It’s something that no one else can experience, hear, or interpret for me. That’s why it’s so special. To me, not only do the special people in my life make life worth living, but music makes the world spin. It is what makes me happy when I’m done. You can express any emotion imaginable thru music. That’s why I’m so thankful that I am fortunate enough to be able to express myself thru this medium. It’s always important to stop and remember what makes us the happiest in life 🙂

    Best wishes!

  3. “I’m alive.” Saying that sentence aloud get me out of the occasional “O woe is me” funk. As long as I’m alive I have the oppurtunity to make things better. And reminding myself every day that I’m not Sarah Palin does a lot to make my life seem totally blessed.

    • thanks Chard… just being thankful for being alive helps a lot! 🙂

and yeah, i’m glad you’re not SP too! LOL!

  4. So true. While we may often dismiss affirmations as being cliche, they possess a simplicity which allows them to cut through the noise of everyday life and provide the grounding that we all occasionally need. Least that’s how I see it…
